AEPOC grows to 33 members Amsterdam, October 27th 2004 - At its quarterly Board of Directors meeting held in Amsterdam, AEPOC (European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works and Services) approved the admission of two members: Hutro and ADD Europe. Hutro (www.hutro.net), based in Seoul, Korea, develops hardware around satellite reception, cable and multimedia services. ADD (Arab Digital Distribution) Europe (www.adduniverse.com), is based in Ratingen, Germany, and provides pay television, interactive and digital services across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. The admission of the two companies committed to the fight against piracy of audiovisual services brings the membership of AEPOC to a total of 33 companies, further strengthening AEPOC's voice in Europe and beyond. AEPOC (www.aepoc.org) is the "Association Européenne pour la Protection des uvres et Services Cryptés" or the "European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works and Services". AEPOC started its activities in 1995. Its current membership consists of 33 leading digital television and telecommunication companies including TV channels, conditional access providers, providers of transmission infrastructures and manufacturers of related hardware. AEPOC's goal is to eliminate the pirating of encrypted works and services (piracy of audiovisual services) and to encourage the development of the appropriate legal, operational and technological frameworks to increase the security and safeguarding of conditional access systems for Pay-TV, TV-based services and IP services.
