Biography Davide Giulio Rossi was born in 1966. A lawyer by profession, he has over ten years experience in media affairs, with a particular interest in copyright. From 1992 to 1995 he practised as a lawyer in Milan, where he sat for the examination leading to admission to the forensic profession. Since 1996 (during that period for DSTV, a trademark which denoted the digital satellite television of the Group Nethold) he has been consultant of Tele+, which has been part of Group Canal+ since 1997. In 1997, he was one of the founder members of AEPOC (European Association for the Protection of Encrypted Works), of which he took over the function of Secretary General with effect from 1st March 2001. During 1998 and 1999 he followed, on behalf of Group Canal+, the iter of the Conditional Access Directive and he took an active part in drafting the Italian Law concerning copyright (L. 248/2000). Since 1997 he has taken care of the legal aspects in connection with the start up of various companies which are active on the Net (for example Webnext). In April 1998 David Rossi was nominated Director General of Univideo (Italian Union of Audiovisual Directors, www.univideo.org), a function which he is still occupying. In February 2004 he was elected President of Univideo. In November 2000 he was nominated member of the Committee for the Protection of Intellectual Property within the Italian Prime Minister's cabinet (www.palazzochigi.it). Other appointments include:
